He was covered in tattoos and the ultimate not-so-bad bad boy, so naturally women the world over swooned. In 2013, Miller came out as gay via a letter to the St Petersburg International Film Festival when he refused to attend the Russian film festival in protest of the anti-gay laws that were recently passed there. Miller wrote “As a gay man, I must decline. I am deeply troubled by the current attitude toward and treatment of gay men and women by the Russian government.”

He also made an incredibly powerful speech at a Human Rights Campaign conference in 2013, just one year before Ellen Page took the stage.
